WAIMEA CANYON STATE PARK, KAUAI, HAWAII
It was so hard getting out of bed and leaving our jungle cottage. Every night we would sleep to the music of rain, and every morning we would wake to the singing of tropical birds, insects, more rain, and with gratitude in our hearts.
I loved every minute. Just one more minute, please…
But several miles away, the red earth waited.
I couldn’t believe how quickly the scenery changed. From lush, green jungles to red, red earth…
Dazed and amazed. How can this even exist?
We made several stops as we drove up the mountain.
The higher we drove, the farther we could see across the island.
It wasn’t long before the Grand Canyon of the Pacific knocked our breath away…
Waimea Canyon State Park treated us to several different viewpoints. My only regret was not having more hours in the day to hike into the canyon.
Can we just take a moment to admire these colours?
What a beautiful dance of vibrant pigments. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon — amazing in its own right — but this gem was something else.
Lost in her immense beauty. Hundreds of years of rain and erosion…
I love how she does that, our great Mother Earth. She can make us feel incredibly small, yet with spirits so grand — walking taller and feeling alive.
And so I’ll continue to get lost in her nooks, her forests, and mountains…Where time is measured in sun beams and in the number of times her beauty literally takes my breath away.
…A place where you, too, can experienced the feeling :)
Love & Magic,
Denise
