This goes out to my health and/or fitness enthusiasts, only because it is YOU I hear talk about this ‘Cheat Day’ nonsense :)
That’s right. I do not believe in meal cheat days. And I actually really dislike when health enthusiasts use the terms “CHEAT DAYS”.
If you are a health/fitness enthusiast, you already know the difference between dieting and lifestyle changes. You already know that eating should be done in moderation, and that people should forget about all those crazy diets, unhealthy detoxes, and over-counting calories. Life should consist of a balanced lifestyle: physical activity, the foods we consume, and also a HAPPY MIND.
You might even also believe in the 80/20 “Rule” – (I DO!)
Fitness is 80% nutrition, 20% workout, and 100% MINDSET!
So what am I getting at?
By acknowledging that there is a cheat day, you are also acknowledging that your lifestyle is in fact NOT a lifestyle, but rather some form of diet. You subconsciously acknowledge that you should only eat healthy periodically.
Stop that! I know that’s not what you are advocating.
I blame the CHEAT DAY Mentality for making us feel deprived of foods. FK YOU, CHEAT DAY!
I like to think that I maintain a healthy lifestyle and know how to ‘eat right’. I am a health enthusiast, though obviously not a perfect one, and always a work-in-progress. But when I was in that Cheat Day Mentality, I quickly saw that I had subconsciously created eating schedules (Mon – Sat) and stopped listening to what my body wanted (Mon – Sat). And to me, that wasn’t a healthy mindset.
…It all starts with what’s in your head! So change that! Remember, 100% MINDSET!!!
Stop acknowledging that you should eat healthy only sometimes.
Stop telling yourself that cheat days exist.
Be conscious of what you put in your body at ALL TIMES.
Your heart does not take a break from pumping your blood, so why should you take a break from taking care of it?
HAPPY EATING! <3
