“Move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.”
–Anthony Bourdain
I hope one day you realize that there is more to life than just watching the day fade away one tick-tock at a time. And I hope that in that moment of awakening you reignite the curious child that I know still resides in us all.
Whatever inspires you, whatever lights your fire…take hold! Grab onto it like your life depended on it. Because it does.
We can exist. Or we can live.
Often, I get asked how I have the time and money to travel or seek out beautiful places on the weekends. But the truth is, my life is no different than most. I have a regular day job with the usual paid-time-off, making an average income. But most importantly, I am granted 24 hours every single day — just like everyone else.
In so many ways, I am you.
Our circumstances may be different. Our priorities may be different. But at the end of the day, it is our own responsibility to make sure we stay feeling alive.
My fuel just happens to consist of sun particles mixed with fresh mountain air and a splash of ocean breeze :) It all becomes a domino effect. I fuel to stay alive. And in return I become inspired, and I create.
The point is…Start. Anywhere, anyhow, just start. Turn off that TV. Move!
What fuels your soul?
Love & Light,
Denise
FRANKLIN FALLS, WASHINGTON
We overslept on this day. We really wanted to get outside for the weekend, but truth be told — things don’t always happen as we want. This treasure sits just outside of Seattle in Snoqualmie Pass. The Franklin Falls trail is fairly accessible and is a short 2-mile hike roundtrip. Enough to quench our hunger for beautiful scenery on the weekend when we’re on a time crunch. And it’s even more spectacular in the winter…
By the way, I really have no idea what I’m doing when I pick up a camera. Seriously. It was snowing so hard and had the hardest time focusing the camera. Most of these photos are iPhone. Some are DSLR. Either way, this was my crappy attempt to edit…err…over Instagram-edit. Whatever. Enjoy! :)
We saw several people on the trail. Some were snow-shoeing. Some were not (like us). Snow was packed enough that we didn’t feel we needed snow-shoes. Hike at your own risk…
The previous night, we made some time to have a different kind of fun in the snow. This was our very first time snow tubing, and it was even more exciting to do so at night :)

Love this! It’s true. We all have 24 hours and we can find at least some time to do those things we love. So much time is lost to habits of TV/technology… hard habits to kick, but definitely doable. Actually, our mind is the biggest obstacle! Thanks for this post! <3 Aleya
I agree –our mind can easily be our biggest enemy. Some days it takes a lot more willpower than others to get out of the couch/gadgets/etc.
Thanks for stopping by, Aleya! :) I hope the new season brings you lots of renewed energy <3
