Get up. Pack a bag. Leave town.
And so Memorial Day weekend was upon us.
With the days getting warmer and our nights filling with stars, we could almost smell summer campfires in the warmth of the night.
Last year my boyfriend and I took advantage of the long weekend to road trip through the Painted Hills of Oregon and down to Crater Lake. It was the first time I had ever camped. This year, however, our schedules couldn’t quite fit a weekend-long trip.
But no day is really ever wasted.
I spent my Saturday roaming around Folklife Festival in downtown Seattle, enjoying live music, festival food, and wandering from one booth to the next. I was so excited to get my hands on new mandala tapestries. Obsessed!
It was later in the night that we decided to pack our bags and drive to the coast…Except, so did half the city. We arrived at Port Angeles around 1 AM thinking we could at least check into the cheapest of hotels for the night.
Not a chance! Every single hotel-motel was completely full, including those in the surrounding areas of Sequim. Why had I decided to unpack our tent from the car?
We spent a very uncomfortable night, four people squeezed into my tiny Nissan Sentra…In the REST AREA.
Ha! I am not sure how much rest any of us got, but those are the nights we’ll remember forever. Half asleep but with hearts eager for a day of adventure, we drove into the Olympic Peninsula to make our way to Rialto Beach.
How do you beach bum? Below are photos from our day at the beach. Beach bummin PNW style. Enjoy <3
Love and Adventure,
RIALTO BEACH, OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK, WA
Such dramatic coast line!
And of course we had to climb through logs and rocks. It’s the Pacific Northwest!
Later we made a pit stop at Lake Crescent. The weather was so much more sunnier than at the coast…
There was a pup with his human sailing into the evening, and it was the cutest thing!
Thank you for stopping by, dear friends.
May your summer days be filled with laughter and uncomfortable (but glorious) nights! <3
