Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor
And our Wildest California Road Trip concluded at the southern Oregon coast. It was one of the clearest nights.
After leaving the Redwoods, we drove into Bandon, Oregon. We have been here on another occasion (just not a starry night like this). You can find that blog post here.
Ten whole magical days, from Seattle to California and back to the Pacific Northwest. And we came back to THIS.
All the campgrounds were full, so we stayed in an RV park that let us pitch a tent on a patch of grass.
We spent the night in my favorite cove, photographing the night sky.
The next morning was so sunny! not a single cloud in the sky…
Same cove, different time of day.
I am in love with the Oregon coast. There is truly nothing like it. Not even sunny California could steal my heart away from this gem.
We spent the morning playing on the beach before embarking on the search for a photograph…sort of.
The Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is unique in that it holds many hidden views worth searching for. Some views require more work than others.
Guilty confession: I saw a photograph by Quin at @EverchangingHorizon, and it was the reason I wanted to spend day ten of our road trip in this corner of the Oregon coast.
I had no directions to this location, and we had no cell signal. So we set out almost blindly chasing a photograph (lol).
Even funnier was the fact that we bumped into so many other people with their phone in hand and with the same photograph by @EverchangingHorizon.
Everyone was searching for the same pot of gold –people from out of this country even. The power of social media. Yikes!
We were unsuccessful in our search. We left after hiking several cliffs and almost twisting my ankle. But by then, I had already shown my husband the photograph, and he became even more determined to find this location.
We drove just far enough to get cell signal, found a YouTube video showing us the way, and we turned back around to search again.
This is how we ended our road trip. I was too scared to climb down the last cliff on a hurt ankle, so I enjoyed the view from the top, which was equally mind-blowing!
When was the last time you set out on a treasure hunt? :)
Love and Adventure,
Denise
